International Residency Initiatives Scheme

Irish Aerial Creation Centre is delighted to take part in the Arts Council’s new International Residency Initiatives Scheme. IACC: New Horizons will be two residency exchanges; one for vertical dancers to Amelia Rudolph (founder of Bandaloop) in California, and one for aerialists to Centre de Création in France.

California – Ireland Vertical Dance Residency

IACC is working in partnership with Amelia Rudolph, founder of the dance company BANDALOOP, an innovator in vertical dance since 1991 . Her award-winning work has been seen by thousands in live performance and by millions through various media formats and shared through workshops, community engagements and public speaking. BANDALOOP, now under the artistic direction of Melecio Estrella, is based in Oakland, California, USA ,where the company incubates and produces work for its local audiences and for touring performances re-imagining dance, activating public spaces, and inspiring wonder and imagination in audiences around the world.

We are looking for two Irish-based or Irish-born vertical dancers with at least 2-3 years experience in vertical dance and contemporary dance to apply to this wonderful opportunity.

The dates you must be available are as follows:

  • 13th to 24th May 2023, to travel to California. This includes travel days.
  • EITHER:
  • 10th to 16th August 2023, in County Clare. This does not include travel days. (NOT YET CONFIRMED)
  • or
  • 23rd to 29th August 2023, in County Clare. This does not include travel days. (NOT YET CONFIRMED)

This opportunity includes travel*, accommodation, per diems, and a fee of €2000 per artist. *Travel is calculated on the artist being based in Ireland.

The residency will include time spent in California training with BANDALOOP artists, and time spent in Ireland in both IACC and on location outdoors on the west coast with a view to filming some material.

France – Ireland Aerial Dance Residency

IACC is working in partnership with Centre de Création in Southwest France. Their vision is for the centre de création to grow into a diverse programme that is at the heart of the local cultural community giving access to all forms of live arts, creative research and retreat opportunities to enhance your wellbeing.

We are looking for a group of 2-3 Irish-based or Irish-born aerialists with at least 2-3 years experience in aerial dance to apply to this wonderful opportunity. These artists will work collaboratively as a group.

The dates you must be available are as follows:

  • 17th to 23rd April 2023, residency in IACC.
  • 8th to 14th May 2023, to travel to France. This may depend on the times/days of flights.

This opportunity includes travel*, accommodation, per diems**, and a fee of €1200 per artist. *Travel is calculated on the artist being based in Ireland. **Due to the remote location of CdC, there will be a chef providing 3 meals a day, therefore there are no per diems while in France.

The residency will include time spent in France at the CdC with French aerialists, and time spent in Ireland in IACC with the same French aerialists.
