It is with great sadness that the Irish Aerial Creation Centre must inform you of the sudden passing of our Managing Director Brian Rafferty. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family and partner at this difficult time.
Brian has been part of the IACC family since August 2021 and has had a massive impact on the growth of IACC. He was welcomed into the Arts community due to his big heart and massive vision for the sector. He oversaw the capital renovation of the IACC building, transforming it into the world class facility it is today. This is Brian’s legacy as without him it may never have happened.
He oversaw the transition of the company to a registered charity. He was a crucial part of developing our 2026-2030 Strategic Plan. He was our representative on the Irish Street Art Circus and Spectacle Network (ISACS) Board. He expanded and developed our networks and funding streams. He was instrumental in developing further education pathways including a third level certification for a Circus Prep School.
From day one he brought his business skills to us and we fostered a love of creativity and circus arts in him. He had so many talents which he brought to IACC generously, including his ability to see potential in our staff, artists, teachers, and board members. He had a compelling vision for the future of IACC and the wider circus, street art and spectacle community. His skill and joy in being an advocate for the artform was always tangible to all that met him.
He will be deeply missed by our staff, artists, students, parents, and the IACC Board, but his impact will be felt here for a long time. We are forever grateful to Brian for his constant energy, commitment and dedication, and we will continue our mission in his memory.
