About Sorcán and Circus

Sorcán & Circus is a new community engagement programme developed by WILLZEE and the Irish Aerial Creation Centre, rooted in Fidget Feet’s circus theatre production H.O.M.E.The programme centres Traveller voices, creativity, and cultural expression, working with early-career Traveller creatives through mentorship, performance, and paid artistic opportunities.

Sorcán is a Cant word meaning sound, reflecting the programme’s focus on voice, presence, and being heard.

This workshop will focus on

  • Songwriting
  • Stage performance
  • Collaboration
  • Live show performance

Locations

The programme will take place in multiple locations along the west of Ireland.

Each location will host a maximum of 4 artists from the Traveller community, allowing for focused, supportive, and high-quality creative work.

Who Can Apply

Early-career Traveller creatives with an interest in music, performance, spoken word, or live performance practice.

How to Apply

A short video explaining why you’d like to participate

A 50–150 word email explaining your interest

 

Please also include:

A video or online links to examples of your work (music, performance, spoken word, etc.)

About Willzee

Willzee (William Casey) is a Limerick-based Irish Traveller artist whose work spans rap, spoken word, screenwriting, and activism. Known for his “TraBuffer” identity (Traveller blood, settled rearing), his work is deeply rooted in his personal experiences of hardship, loss, and cultural identity.
